about prices

We don’t show live quotes, and we want to be straight about why rather than leave you wondering. Live pricing comes from carrier feeds that insurers provide to distributors who sell their products and earn commission. Crown Money doesn’t sell insurance, so we have no such feeds — and taking them would mean taking the commercial relationships that come with them, which is exactly what keeps this tool independent.

What we can give you is everything that decides whether a quote is good: published market benchmarks (currently $2,903 average for capital-city home and contents, $1,560–$2,900 for comprehensive car), what your own premium did year on year, and which of these brands are genuinely separate companies. Get quotes from the shortlist below and put them through the renewal check.

One exception: NSW CTP Green Slips have official regulator-published prices for every licensed insurer.

Read this carefully before drawing conclusions. These are raw complaint volumes, not rates. A larger insurer will receive more complaints simply because it has more customers, so these numbers show scale, not service quality, and must not be read as a ranking. AFCA publishes complaints alongside resolution times and outcomes in its Datacube — use that for a fair comparison of any two specific firms. Figures are per underwriting group, so they cover every retail brand that group writes.
