a free tool by crown money

your insurer is betting you won’t check.

Most Australians are quietly paying more each year for exactly the same cover. Upload your renewal notice or enter a few details, and we’ll show you what your premium should look like — benchmarked against Australian regulator data, with the gaps in your cover called out.

No sign-up. No sales call. Nothing stored. Crown Money doesn’t sell insurance and earns no commission from it.

three steps, about two minutes.

1. show us your renewal

Upload the PDF or a photo of your renewal notice and we’ll read the numbers off it — premium, sums insured, excess, discounts, inclusions. Or type them in yourself if you’d rather not upload anything.

2. we benchmark it

Your premium goes up against market data from APRA, the ACCC and state regulators for your postcode, property type and cover level — plus your own previous premium, which is where price walking shows up.

3. you get a plan

A plain-English readout: what you’re overpaying, which cover gaps to close, a shortlist of insurers to quote (with the underwriter behind each one), and a script for the retention call.

why we built it

we kept finding the same leak.

Crown Money has spent twenty years helping Australians pay off their mortgage in a fraction of the time. The work is mostly about cash flow — finding money that’s leaving the household for no good reason and pointing it at the loan principal instead.

Home and car insurance turned up again and again. Not because people had bad policies, but because they’d had the same policy for six years and never once checked what it had crept up to. That’s money that could be coming off a mortgage.

So we built the check we were doing manually, and made it free for anyone — client or not.

To be clear about what this is: Crown Money is a mortgage and finance broker. We are not an insurance broker. We don’t sell insurance, we take no commission from insurers, and we can’t tell you which policy to buy. This tool gives you factual information and market benchmarks. The decision stays yours.

questions

the honest answers

Is this really free?

Yes. Crown Money does not sell insurance, is not an insurance broker, and receives no commission from any insurer. There is nothing to buy here and no catch. We built it because our clients kept overpaying on insurance while working hard to clear their mortgage.

What is insurance price walking?

Price walking is when an insurer quotes a low premium to win you, then raises it a little every year on the assumption you will not check. Your cover does not improve — only the price moves. It is the single biggest source of avoidable insurance cost for Australian households, and it is invisible unless you compare your renewal against last year.

Do you tell me which insurer to buy from?

No, and we cannot. Recommending a specific insurance policy is a licensed financial service in Australia and Crown Money holds a credit licence, not an AFSL. What we do instead is show you the factual picture — how your premium compares to the market, what your renewal has done year on year, where your cover has gaps, and who the underwriter actually is — so you can make your own call.

What happens to my insurance document if I upload it?

It is read once, in memory, and then discarded. We do not store it, we do not log its contents, and it never touches a database. Nothing is kept after your result is generated.

How current is your market data?

Every figure on this site carries the source it came from and the date it was last verified. Our data pipeline re-checks each source on its own publication cycle — APRA quarterly, AFCA and ACCC on release, insurer product documents on change detection. If a number is stale, the page says so.
